Anyone speak welsh?

I do! But my Nan doesn't, which is why I was somewhat surprised to hear the other day when visiting that she likes nothing better than to sit and watch Pobl y Cwm ( a welsh language soap). I consoled myself that at least she could follow the basic storyline from watching the characters and so on, and that perhaps this occupation was not so strange after all. Fine I thought, I've managed to rationalise the whole thing. Until she told me she also likes listening to Welsh language programmes on the radio...

(Overly) optimistic ecological footprint?

I just checked out my ecological footprint ... surprisingly I came out at 1.9 planets to sustain my existence. I'm not sure how accurately I did the test though .. I had to guess how big I thought my house was, and also my fuel consumption. To be fair though, I reckon that's not bad! Perhaps my little "pwp-pwp" (as my purple moped is disparagingly known by some)
isn't so bad after all..

Anyway, hurrah for my housemates over the years, even going back to when I was in college who helped me recycle (i.e. they wanted to and I couldn't be bothered but said fine so long as they sorted it out) ... I'm now quite envisioned about the whole looking after the planet thing. There's a charity called A Rocha who do lots of good conservation work around the world out of a conviction that it's a fundamental part of Christian mission. Check them out if you're interested..

Sabbath sermon burning

Apparently John Wesley wrote in his journal in 1778 that
" once in seven years I burn all my sermons; for it is a shame if I cannot write better sermons now than I did seven years ago."

What a fantastic quote! Wesley clearly remained a learner through out his lifetime, intending to improve as the years went by. What a provocation to all of us - those who teach and preach, and those who do not.

Thinking??

It's been suggested that I'm one of those people (who often seem to frequent blogdom) who think a lot! Intriguingly enough however, I can't for the life of me think what I'm thinking about at the moment! Surely there must be some thoughts in there somewhere...
Alas, no... I'm caught up doing food journals to figure out what keeps making me ill and beginning to think what should be on my Christmas list! It's all too easy to think of a million things you could have ... deciding which you really need is the tricky bit!

TV ads..

Ceri R

Ever thought it's pretty bizarre that TV ads talk about how their product beats "no 1 soap powder"??? This is odd at two levels:
1) Implies that their product is not the no 1 brand!
2) If it really did beat it, wouldn't their product be the no 1 brand>
